Libraries

Powerful customization capabilities are provided through the ability to create libraries which can store custom fluid properties, pipe materials, and all junction types except Dead End and Tee/Wye junctions. There are several categories of libraries which are discussed below.

AFT Internal Library

  • Purpose - Stores AFT-provided library data that is always available with the default installation.

  • Filename - Arrow#.dat (where # is the corresponding version number).

  • Location - Arrow installation folder, default is C:\AFT Products\AFT Arrow #.

  • Limitations - Cannot be transferred to other users, local use only.

Local User Library

  • Purpose - Stores user-specified data for most component types.

  • Filename - Aro_User#.DAT (where # is the corresponding version number).

  • Location - C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Applied Flow Technology\AFT Arrow\#.

  • Limitations - Cannot be transferred to other users, local use only.

External Library

  • Purpose - Stores user-specified data of any type: fluids, pipe materials, junctions, and fittings & losses. Multiple network or local custom libraries can be created via the Library Manager on the Library menu. External libraries can be shared to multiple users from a network location as is discussed in Creating an Enterprise-wide Network Library System.

  • Filename - User-specified filename.

  • Location - User-specified location.

  • Limitations - Must be connected via the Library Manager prior to use, and consideration should be given to version control or user permissions to edit.
