SteamCalc offers two sources for property data. The first source is based on the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) water/steam table data. The second source is based on the ASME steam tables, which was developed from the IAPWS-IF97 water/steam table formulations.
To select either the ASME or NBS steam table data sources, choose Select Property Database… from the Options menu, and then select the desired data source, as shown in Figure 1. The selected property database will be displayed on the main SteamCalc window.
Note that not all input property combinations are valid, and that the valid combinations may vary between the ASME and NBS data sources. SteamCalc will check for valid input combinations. Valid input properties are selected from the lists in the property drop-down boxes. Click on the down arrows on the right of the boxes to view the lists of available properties in their entirety. Click on the desired property name to select it.
