Transient Theory
AFT Impulse simulates transient systems using fundamental equations based on conservation of mass and momentum. These fundamental equations are solved using the Method of Characteristics, which simplifies a set of two partial differential equations into four ordinary differential equations.
AFT Impulse also includes two cavitation models which are designed to capture limited transient cavitation in an otherwise liquid-full system.
The math and calculations needed to support AFT Impulse's transient simulations can be complex at times. The topics in this section attempt to clearly detail the theory behind AFT Impulse.
